New commercial floor and industrial flooring website
What types of floor tiles are available for
my home or business?
Ceramic tiles can be glazed or unglazed. Glazed
tiles are available plain or decorated and can be used on
walls and floors.
Unglazed ceramic floor tiles are more suited
to commercial and industrial settings, but can be used in
laundries and utility rooms. They are available with a non-slip
profile.
Ceramic tile is easier to install than most
other types of floor coverings, such as sheet vinyl sheet
or wood.
Tile is durable and impervious to water, and
easy to clean, making them a popular building material for
your bathrooms, kitchen and possible throut your entire home.
Porcelain Tile is versatile and can be used
in any room of the house and are an excellent choice for outdoor
use. They’re made of highly refined clay and fired at
very high temperatures. Porcelain Tile is dense and hard,
so they won’t wear down quickly, even under heavy traffic.
They are among the most vitreous and water-resistant of all
tiles.
Quarry tiles are glazed or unglazed ceramic
tile made using an extrusion process. An example is the terra-cotta
squares used in the Southwest
Terra-Cotta or also known as Saltillo Tiles
- Terra-cotta is a low-density natural clay tile fired at
a low temperature. The tiles come from Mexico or Europe and
may be entirely handmade or machine-formed. Terra-Cotta tiles
require more maintenance than ceramic tile. Terra-Cotta tiles
are very porous so you have to apply a sealer to keep them
from getting stained. They can also be used outdoors in warm
nonfreezing climates.
Slate Tile is a fine-grained metamorphic rock
radiates a subtle, natural beauty. Since slate resists fading,
abrasion and chemicals and is impervious to freeze/thaw cycles,
its beauty will last for years to come. Slate tile can be
used for both interior and exterior floors and walls.
Travertine tile is natural stone.
Mosaic tiles are very small. Mosaic tiles can
be glazed or unglazed and made from porcelain, ceramic, glass
or natural stone.
Natural stone tiles such as limestone, marble,
granite and slate are quarried from the earth. Some are extremely
hard, and some quite soft. Some may need sealing.
Granite Tile is formed by volcanic action, this
igneous rock bursts with distinction. Flecks of quartz, feldspar
and mica give Granite its own special character. Choose from
polished, honed or flamed surfaces.
